Once upon a time, in a family where love and care knew no bounds, a young girl grew up under the nurturing gaze of her parents. However, as she blossomed into a young woman, she made a decision that would change her life forever, a secret marriage with the bus driver of her college, without her parents’ consent.
When her father discovered the truth, he confronted his daughter, only to receive a surprising response, “I am already married. It’s better that you let me go willingly, or else, I will leave on my own.” Her father, though heartbroken, chose to support her decision. He advised her to take whatever belongings she needed from their home and embark on this new journey. He made it clear that their paths would no longer intertwine, and she would be on her own.
With tearful goodbyes, the young bride packed her belongings and left for her husband’s side. Almost eight years passed in this estranged state, until a chance encounter reunited her with a dear friend, who brought her back to her parental home.
Amidst the joyous reunion, the daughter couldn’t hold back her tears. Her friend sensed that something was amiss with the family, assuming that perhaps their circumstances had worsened or her parents were in ill health. The daughter, however, revealed a different truth.
“I disobeyed my parents, severing all ties with them. Regret will haunt me for the rest of my life. Financially, I have no worries, as I have been blessed by Allah in that aspect,” she said. “But the most painful part is that I have only one daughter. Whenever my husband prays, I have overheard him making a specific supplication repeatedly.”
She continued with a heavy heart, “He prays, ‘Oh Allah! Let my daughter never experience the fate of her mother. Oh Allah! May she never run away from her parents like her mother did. May she never dishonor her parents like her mother did…
The daughter emphasized the significance of this prayer, “This prayer is not just for me; it is a message, a piece of advice, and a declaration for all young boys and girls. If anyone understands…”
With a quivering voice, she concluded, “May Allah save any parent from the humiliation caused by their children. Amen.
