This is is the shortest surah of the Holy Quran comprising of only 3 verses. Surah Kawthar is among the Mekkan Surahs and it’s the 108th surah in the Quranic order present in the last chapter of the Quran. The word Al-Kauthar originates from the word kathrah (bounty)
and it (Al-Kauthar) phonetically implies a plenitude of goodness, spiritual benefits, and endowments. The opponents of Rasoolullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam imagined that Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) had been totally destroyed; he had been expatriated, his trade was demolished, and his male children who could carry on his name were dead.
He was defenceless and frail and he was confronting disappointment and disillusionment. His adversaries would celebrate thinking there would be nobody to remember him after he will be gone. At that point, Allah subhanahu was ta’ala stated, “Verily, We have rewarded you Al-Kauthar,” it shows that your absurd rivals imagine that you are destroyed and denied of the beneficial things that you delighted in before Prophethood.
Surah Al-Kawthar Benefits:
There are numerous Ahadees of our Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) depicting the significance of this Surah. Our Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) stated,
“This is a Fountain at which my Ummah will collect on the Resurrection Day.” [Muslim]
Kausar is a fountain; Allah will give this fountain to our Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) upon the arrival of the judgment. Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) will approach the fountain before anyone. Our Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) stated:
“I will have approached the Fountain before you.” [Al-Bukhari]
“Two channels from Paradise will stream into it and supply water to it.” [Muslim]
